Global News Vending FAQ

How are the machines protected from vandalism?
Answer: All our machines have a lock to the newspaper and cashbox compartment. The external lock is inbuilt and engages the cabinet the entire verticle length of the door. The cashbox compartment is equipped for a separate padlock, although we recommend you do not lock the cashbox.

Why would you not padlock the cashbox?
Answer: Most of our customers do not use a padlock on the cashbox because it takes longer to service a machine and if a thief breaks into the machine they would prefer he takes the cash without doing further damage to the machine. It is extremely important to empty the cashbox as often as possible, preferably every day regardless of the locks. This way, the thief only gets a small sum of money and quickly learns that the small sum of money is not worth the effort.

Can your machines accept more than one coin combination?
Answer: Yes, our machines can accept any coin combination.

How many newspapers can your Wall Mounted Single Vend hold?
Answer: The capacity of our machine is a newspaper stack 35.5 cm high. Capacity in terms of numbers of newspapers is dependent on the thickness of the newspapers.

Do your Single Vend Machines require a power source?
Answer: No, our machines are mechanically operated and utilize a 6 volt lithium battery to operate the coin mechanism.

What prevents a customer from inserting money into an empty machine?
Answer: Our machines always vend the display newspaper. The back panel of the display has the words "SOLD OUT" silkscreened on it. The newspaper in the display blocks the "SOLD OUT" from view of the customer. When the last newspaper is sold, the "SOLD OUT" is exposed to view for the customer.
